Lipid Metabolism

Lipid metabolism in obesity and metabolic syndrome differs from primary dyslipidemia with specific management. The session covers the apoB-LDL-Lp(a) framework in obesity, GLP-1 effects on triglycerides and the residual-risk question, MASH lipid abnormalities, postprandial lipemia, and emerging lipid therapies (oral PCSK9, Lp(a) silencers olpasiran/lepodisiran, ANGPTL3 inhibitors). Discussion addresses atherogenic dyslipidemia in T2D vs obesity-only, the role of statin intolerance and bempedoic acid, omega-3 fatty acids beyond icosapent ethyl, the comparison of CETP inhibitors, and emerging triglyceride-targeted therapies including APOC3 silencers.
