Eating Disorders & Obesity
GLP-1 era creates new eating-disorder screening and management demands across obesity practice. The session covers binge-eating disorder pharmacotherapy (lisdexamfetamine remains the only FDA-approved), anorexia and orthorexia screening in obesity care, GLP-1 effects on disordered eating signals, the SCOFF and EDE-Q screening before GLP-1 initiation, integrated mental-health pathways in obesity clinics, and emerging anti-binge-eating-disorder pipeline. Discussion addresses the controversy around GLP-1 in BED and the evidence for benefit, post-bariatric eating disorders, family-based therapy and DBT for adolescent eating disorders, atypical anorexia and weight-based diagnostic criteria, and the integration of dietitians and mental-health clinicians in obesity care.
